Know exactly what you're getting.
For your convenience, we offer pet medications both onsite and online. During appointments, we will provide product details and instruct you on proper administration of all pet meds. We stock many of the common prescriptions, including anti-inflammatories, preventives for flea and heartworm, and prescription diet pet foods. If you require refills, please stop by the office or order through our online pharmacy.
The Truth about Pet Internet Pharmacies
Internet pet pharmacies have put a great deal of money into advertising, trying to convince pet owners to buy their pet medications online. The chief advantage touted is convenience and a cheaper cost. Hope Veterinary Care offers similar convenience and the same or lower cost than most Internet pharmacies. Yet you get the peace of mind that you are buying safe, guaranteed pet meds from a provider who has your pet’s health at heart (us!).
Below is more information you need to know about Internet pharmacies:
- Price—Internet pharmacies are not always the cheapest source for medication. Your pet’s medications are usually less expensive here than at most Internet pharmacies. Many Internet pharmacies also charge for shipping and handling.
- Rebates and coupons—Our veterinary practice passes on manufacturers’ promotions and rebates, resulting in greater savings. These rebates are not usually available from online stores or catalogs.
- Safety—Any prescription medication purchased from our hospital has been inspected and approved by the FDA and manufactured and packaged according to U.S. government regulations. Medications purchased through online retailers may have been purchased outside the United States and may have different strengths and labeling than U.S. products. We have had the sad experience of a patient acquiring heartworm disease despite being on heartworms pills that the owner had ordered online from an Internet pharmacy.
- Guarantee—Pharmaceutical manufacturers will only honor product guarantees when the medications are prescribed by and purchased from the pet’s veterinarian. Internet and mail-order catalogs do not qualify for these guarantees.
Please call us for any medications you need or with any question. Or consider signing up for online service, where you can get home delivery, request a refill, or check your order status.
